Deadlines, busy, busy, busy!

It is a very busy time of year.  I have so many deadlines, so I have not been able to do any blogging. 72_res_baksetball_huddle_0560_cop_2 We went to Brigham City last week to see my daughter, Nichelle coach her freshman basketball team.  They had lost every game so far.  However, they are on a roll and have won three games in a row.  I'm so excited for her and her team.  Nichelle LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, sports!  Am I really her mother??? LOL!  Also, two girls from our ward are on the team, so it is really fun to watch them.  Hello, to Julia and Hailey.  It is so fun to watch these beautiful young ladies.  I have known Julia since she was a baby.  Her older brother and my daughter, Nichole were best friends in high school.

On the way to Brigham City we stopped at the bird refuge and I took some more photos of the beautiful species that winter over in Utah.  Breathtaking!

Saturday, my husband and72_res_timberlakes_daytime_0438_f_2 I went to Timberlakes, which is by Heber City.  The LDS Church has a girl’s camp on the Timberlakes property.  Our friends, Craig and Julie invited us to their cabin for snowmobiling, dinner, and a relaxing evening of 72_res_timberlakes_sunset_0470_2watching television and a “blue-ray” movie.  We watched Déjà Vu.  It is a fun science-fiction thriller which stars the super talented Denzel Washington.  It was so beautiful and very relaxing to enjoy the great Utah outdoors.  It was a great break for us.

Last night, I got to go to a crop that Lisa Bearnson hosted for 40 neighbors and friends.  We made the Kit of the Month called “The Greatest Love Story.”  It is a beautiful kit and so very cute. It is my husband’s valentine present.  (Shhh---don’t tell him.)  Unfortunately, I looked on Lisa’s blog this morning and it is sold out.  Her next month’s kit is a must have school kit.  “Don’t miss out on this one were the words,” that Marci told me.  Marci Leishman is Lisa’s “right-hand” gal for QVC and an amazing scrapbooker as well.  It was so fun to chat with Lisa and her friends.  Thanks for the great time last night, Lisa.

Off to walk, and then design.  I left my camera at the crop last night.  So, I guess I better go get it today.  A scrapbooker can not be without her camera for even ONE DAY! LOL!

Have a great week!

A Taylor Family Christmas, Part 2

72restree0014_2

Here are some more pictures from our Christmas celebrations.  Over the weekend, we went to the movie, “The Bucket List.”  It was a movie with a wonderful message.  My favorite quote from the movie posed the 2 questions you should ask yourself when you are about to face your judgment day.

“Did you feel joy in your life?”

“Did you make someone feel joy?”

This is an Egyptian proverb one should address as they approach Heaven’s Gate.  I hope you feel joy today and even better I hope you make someone else feel joy.

Have a JOYFUL day!

(And for those of you who were wondering, yes, I did cry at the movie…..I’m such a softie!)

A Taylor Family Christmas 2007

We had a wonderful family Christmas.  I hope you did as well. This year was especially joyful because of the new addition to our family.  A young child brings so much joy into all of our lives.  Perhaps it is because they were with God just a short time ago.  We can all learn from the innocence of a childHere are a few images of our household.

Why David and Goliath???

Blog_banner_jan_2008_ab_copy

Some of you may wonder why my email and blog are called David and Goliath.  I grew up reading the Biblical story about David and Goliath.  I have always rooted for the underdog.  I love to celebrate the one who overcomes great obstacles and ends up the victor.

Our first dog was a Doberman.  I think they are muscular, have an elegant stride, intelligent, loyal, and beautiful.  They have gotten a bad rap.  Doberman’s can be trained to be very friendly and make great family pets.  Our second Doberman was a male, named Goliath, because he was very muscular and tall.  After my children became teenagers, they went through the typical stage where friends were more important than family.  My husband was traveling extensively at the time.  So, I no longer had any cuddle companions.  Goliath was a wonderful dog but he just didn’t want to sit on my lap.  Imagine that???

I longed for a lap dog.  I didn’t even know that there were miniature Dobies, or Min Pins, that look exactly like a smaller version of the grand Doberman.  Ironically, Min Pins and Dobermans are not related at all.  After a lot of research, I decided to get a Min Pin.  I was told that male dogs got along better with a new dog if they were a different sex.  So, I knew I needed to get a female dog to join our family.  In the year 2000, we got a new puppy.  My daughter, Nichole laughed when Goliath and this new puppy were together.  She told me we HAD to name the new puppy, David, even if she was a female. So that is how we got a girl dog with a boy’s name. (Does that remind you of the country song, A Boy Named Sue?)  Thus, our dogs became known as David and Goliath.

People continually look at me when I’m in public and say to David, “good girl.”  They look at me with puzzlement and usually question my comment.  Here is a picture that I designed as another header for my blog that show the two dogs together.  When they go on a walk together they are always a topic of conversation.

Thank you Mandi!!!

100_resolution_crech_stroke_0169_2 Today Mandi, yes our extremely talented, AMM Mandi, helped me for over 4 hours with typepad.  She designed my blog header and found the perfect color of PINK for my web page.  She is so quick on the mouse.  She held her sweet Jackson in her lap the entire time and typed and maneuvered from one program to the other so quickly that I could hardly keep up with her.  When I grow up I want to have as much creativity as she does.

Mandi also helped me with inserting pictures and other details that I was having trouble with. Thanks so much.  So, I'm going to try again to load some pictures.  It was fun to see all of you at the open house at AMM last night.  The classes are amazing, as usual.  Have a great weekend and don't forget to sign up for classes because they fill up quickly.

Christmas Card 2007

10by1072resolutionblackbirdchrist_2

This is the Christmas card we sent out this year.  We borrowed a wooden crèche with straw from our friends Ralph and Julie.  We put our new grandbaby, Kaylin, in the crèche on a sheepskin rug. She was suffering from a severe case of discomfort and crying that night which by the way is very uncharacteristic of her. We had about 3 minutes to take her picture.  She smiled right on cue and VOILA! we a very cute photograph for our cards this year.

A New Year, A New Blog, Happy New Year 2008

I have been thinking about doing a blog for about 3 years.  I just can't get myself into gear.  I am really going to try harder to be better at journaling life's moments.  Also, when you reach my age, the memory is not what it used to be. LOL!

It's a new year and a new beginning.  Tomorrow is the open house for classes at All My Memories.  I'm teaching only one class due to problems getting product.  The class is called, Pam's Glam.  Thank you to my friend, Val Tebbs for the new name for my class.  Since I can't seem to do a layout without flowers, ribbon, rhinestones, glitter, and all that glitz and glam she thought I should rename my G-L-A-M-O-U-R class to Pam's Glam.  So not to disappoint, I have designed 6 pages with lots of Pam's Glam.

The pages are entitled Winter Wonderland, My Wish, and Love & XOX.  I have used the new brown sugar coated chipboard letters by Doodlebug to tie the 3 layouts together. I hope to see you tomorrow at the open house from 6-9pm.t

Thank you so much for your continual support and the  kind words I have received from those of you who have taken classes from me in the past.  Last quarter's G-L-A-M-O-U-R class sold out for both sessions.  We added another class on December 15th and it also sold out.  Also a special thank you to one of my students, Leah Dabb, for the kind Christmas gift.  You really did bring "JOY" to me and I hope to see you soon.

Kindest Regards,

Pam Taylor
